A lifetime dedicated to serving the citizens of Goochland County
Steven Creasey is a lifelong resident of Goochland County. Graduating from Goochland High School in 1993, he began his service to the citizens of Goochland County as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 17. Steven’s family also has a long history of service to Goochland County; many of Steven’s earliest childhood memories center around his mother, Diana Creasey, teaching emergency medical technician (EMT) classes, where he served as the child victim for the students.
Steven joined the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and has spent his entire professional career with the department. During his 24+ years with the Sheriff’s Office, Steven has held the positions of dispatcher, deputy, corporal, and a tactical operations team member before being promoted to his current rank of sergeant; a position he has held for over 10 years. As a sergeant, Steven is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a patrol shift, which includes the safety and well-being of his officers as well as the citizens of Goochland.
Additionally, in his leadership role as a sergeant, Steven has participated in the creation of the annual Goochland Sheriff's Office budget, regularly assisted in the hiring process for new deputies and dispatchers, and supervises the employees and operations of the Goochland County Communications Center. Steven has attended various training classes and acquired numerous certifications throughout his law enforcement career.
Steven's extensive experience in law enforcement has led him to many significant leadership opportunities for training new and experienced law enforcement officers as a General Instructor, certified to teach courses from the Role of Ethics in Law Enforcement to Officer Survival, as well as several others.
Steven obtained a Master of Arts in Human Services-Criminal Justice degree from Liberty University where he graduated with high distinction and was inducted into the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University and an Associate of Applied Science in Administration of Justice from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.
Steven and his wife Grace have been married for 9 years and have one child; Ellie (7). Steven is a lifetime member of the Goochland County Fire-Rescue Association, actively serving for over 27 years. He is also an active member of Company 2 (Crozier) Fire-Rescue Station, serves on the Goochland County Fire-Rescue Board of Directors, is a Master Mason of DeWitt-Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 141, Sons of the American Legion SQDN# 215, and maintains certifications as a firefighter, an emergency medical technician (EMT) and a CPR instructor.
